The first planting session will take place on May Day, Monday 02 May 2011 @ 10.30. Enter via the main gate at the school, and the staff car park will be available. Please bring a few garden tools with you if you can, although we also have a number available now too. A spade, a fork, and a watering can, plus a snack would be a good idea. If you have any plants ready to transfer over to the garden please take them along to this session. We are aiming to get the beech hedging, the fruit trees (two apple, one plum), plus raspberry canes in. In addition to this we particularly welcome donation of edible plants, edible flowers, and herbs, but will gratefully receive anything. And for children who particularly like watering things (themselves included) there will be plently of this to be done! Families are most welcome, as we look to plant with the children's involvement.
If you can bring in any of the following plants, or would like to gift the garden any of the following, that would be fantastic. It would also be delightful if you could let us know ahead of time (by leaving a note in the school office over the next day or two): We specifically need F r u i t s Strawberry Plants | A hearty clump of rhubarb | Redcurrants | Blueberry + anything else interesting H e r b s Parsley | Thyme | Rosemary | Sage | Mint (ideally in a big pot) | Fennel | Dill | Oregano | Lovage | Tarragon | Angelica | Lemon verbena | Chives + anything else interesting F l o w e r s Lavenders | Sea holly | Honesty | Clematis | Honeysuckle | Verbena bonariensis | Cornflowers + anything else interesting V e g e t a b l e s Globe artichoke | (Small) plants of ......Beans | Peas | Tomato | Cucumber | Courgette | Brocolli | Cabbage | Brussel Sprouts | Chilli Peppers | Pumpkins + anything else interesting....and so on
